Molly is a beautiful, beautiful cat - she could pose for chocolate boxes and birthday cards. But she is ferociously independent, and an extremely efficient killing machine. Look closely at that gorgeous face, and you will see a flicker of insanity in those green eyes.

Moll was always a loner, and as she became older, there were more and more full and frank exchanges of views with Aliss (her sister), and Iggy. Things got steadily more unfriendly, and she was given a hard time whenever she came home although, curiously, there seemed to be some sort of armistice when the weather was really cold. She started spending a lot of time away from home, and we would leave food for her beside the front door. We think other people in the village were feeding her too.

in August of 2003, she vanished completely. She was microchipped, and so we were reasonably confident that she was alright, and had just found a home that suited her better, and we felt it best not to chase her up, although we missed her hugely - she was wonderful with people, but simply wasn't happy in a multi-cat environment.

on 3 November, we had a call from the local animal sanctuary. Someone had taken her in, then abandoned her, and then someone else had taken her in, and then had to go away. Holly Hedge had identified her from her microchip. We went up to see her, and she was fine - fit and well, and purring like a train to see us.

but we knew that it would be unfair to bring her home again - the circumstances were just the same as when she'd left, and she would probably have done a runner again. So, with tears, we signed her over to the sanctuary, who assured us that they would have no trouble in homing her. We feel certain that they will find her a suitable family to rule over, and plenty of wildlife to murder.

be happy, Molly - we miss you, but we know we've done the best for you.

atuinQueen Molly, head of the Beggars' Guild. She walks with a stick, and wears layers and layers of rags. Her hair looks as though it has been permed by a hurricane, and her face is a mass of sores and warts (which have subwarts, and they have their own hair). A very sharp woman.
