warning- mad catSomeone once mailed us, said that they had loved the pictures of Aliss, and that she looked entirely mad. And she is - entirely mad. Utterly insane.

Aliss is a most excellent cat. Black of coat and of heart, with astonishing eyes, every shade of green imaginable (and some shades not imaginable at all). We named her after a witch, which proved to be remarkably prescient - she can turn creatures to stone with just a look, and has the ability to walk through a rainstorm getting only her (huge) paws and (magnificent) tail wet. Then she comes in, and dries them on Pete, preferably when he's wearing a white t-shirt.

like all Maine Coons, she has a wonderful voice ... she trills and chirrups, and has a very sharp sound for "put me down this minute" - and woe betide you if you don't obey instantly. She likes to wash people; not so much now, but when she was a kitten, she would grab your hand in all four paws, and wash it for minutes on end. We used to call her the Washingest cat. She likes cold black tea and plain chocolate, although not at the same time. And mice, which she brings home for us - how kind.

she is utterly beautiful, and can melt your heart with a look, but only when she wants to. Aliss lives life on her own terms. Because, after all, she is a cat.

atuinBlack Aliss Demurrage, a very powerful witch, who lived near the Forest of Skund. all the same, modern witches declare that she never really ate anyone. Well, perhaps a few people, but only rarely, and more or less by accident and short sightedness, and that hardly made her a cannibal. A couple of kids shoved her into her own oven in the end. She is generally spoken of by modern witches, who live in more democratic times when such ungoverned excesses of power are frowned upon, with a sort of wistful disapproval.
