Privacy Policy

we DO NOT COLLECT any personal information from our visitors whatsoever, except in these instances:

  1. if you choose to complete our feedback / guestbook form, then you will have to submit a valid e-mail address - this is one of the ways in which we stop our server being used by spammers. This e-mail address (obviously!) is passed on to us when we receive your feedback, and that's where it stops. We promise never to pass your e-mail address onto anyone else, ever, under any circumstances, threat of torture, bribery, or anything else. Spammers are the scum of the earth, and should die slowly ... very slowly. Incidentally, you will hopefully notice that we do not display the e-mail addresses on the Guestbook page.
  2. if you complete our "Scare a Friend" form, to e-mail the URL to a friend, then we will get a copy of the mail, showing both your e-mail address and that of your friend. We will never pass either of these addresses on to anyone. We monitor these e-mails to make sure that nobody is using our server to send abusive messages, and that nobody is misusing our mail scripts.
  3. the script for the cycling camera popup window only uses a session cookie in your browser to keep track of which image(s) you last saw - this cookie is deleted when you exit your browser, and we do not track your usage of this web site at all, except via our standard Apache weblogs, which do not identify you personally. There is a second session cookie which we use simply to track how many people are watching the catcams - this cookie does not identify you in any way, and is deleted when you exit your browser.
  4. there's a 30 day cookie on the CatPoll, just to stop people voting more than once. We did start off with a session cookie, but one particular person kept coming back and voting for the same cat, so we've had to change it. You know who you are :)
  5. there's cookies in the galleries to manage the image rating system, for the same reason as 4.

note that you can view the site with cookies turned off, but you won't be able to vote for stuff. And it's worth stating that the cookies do not identify you personally.
